Don Wilcox
Second First Works

"I completed art school in New York City in 1962. Living in Greenwich Village, I made my living in the arts. In1965 I moved to San Francisco where I continued in the arts until the mid-seventies. At this time, I developed a complete mental block against the creative processes.

I have been afflicted with bipolar disorder most of my life. As a result I pursued many diverse careers during the long years of my creative drought including being a farmer, an estate manager, a counselor and a shipyard worker. In the past year I have started painting again thanks to a wonderful support system including NV Mental Health Institute and VSA arts of Nevada. Reno is now my home, and I consider myself a Reno artist."
